Professor Silvia Giordani has been appointed Ufficiale dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana, one of the highest honours of the Italian Republic, in recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements and her contributions to research, innovation, and international academic collaboration.

We are delighted to welcome Diego A. Acevedo Guzman to the team as a Research Ireland Enterprise Fellowship postdoctoral researcher, co-funded by Research Ireland and Breakthrough Cancer Research. Diego earned a double PhD in 2024 from the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico).

Professor Silvia Giordani delivered an engaging lecture entitled “Carbon Nano-onions for Drug Delivery” on Friday, 30 January at 15:15, in the Sala del Consiglio (Building C11) at the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Università degli Studi di Trieste.

Nanotechnology applied to medicine and the fight against cancer will be the focus on Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the University of Bergamo’s Engineering Campus in Dalmine.

Prof. Silvia Giordani, full professor at Dublin City University and recipient of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, will illustrate the potential of carbon nano-onions in cancer therapy. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 26th at the Engineering Campus.

Prof. Silvia Giordani was named an Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic at the suggestion of the Prime Minister. Her joy spread on social media.
