Celebrating Dr Hugh Mohan's PhD Graduation and Outstanding Graduate Researcher Award

Huge congratulations to Dr Hugh Mohan, who has officially graduated with a PhD in Chemistry. Through his hard work, commitment, and passion for innovation, Hugh has profoundly influenced our group and made a meaningful contribution to the scientific community. Hugh obtained his BSc (Hons) in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from Dublin City University in 2021. He completed his final year project (Investigating 0D carbon nanomaterials in anti-cancer formulations) under the guidance of Prof. Silvia Giordani and obtained an Irish Research Council GOIPG scholarship (GOIPG/2021/210) to further this research during his PhD studies in the Giordani group. His research project focused on developing nanocarriers based on doped carbon nano-onions to improve anticancer treatments.

To culminate this proud chapter, Hugh was presented with the 2025 Faculty of Science and Health Outstanding Graduate Researcher Award (OGRA), recognizing his groundbreaking research and relentless pursuit of excellence. Hugh’s work has greatly enriched our groups research endeavours, inspiring his colleagues and contributing meaningfully to advancements in the field. We are immensely proud of his accomplishments and the dedication he has shown throughout his journey. We look forward with excitement to seeing where his career will take him next. Congratulations Dr. Hugh Mohan!
