Prof. Silvia Giordani Delivers Invited Seminar at Her Alma Mater, the University of Miami

In May 2026, Prof. Silvia Giordani visited the University of Miami to continue her long-standing research collaboration with Prof. Francisco Raymo. During her visit, she was invited to deliver the Department of Chemistry seminar, held on 15 May 2026.\

The seminar, hosted by Prof. Raymo, was entitled Carbon Nano-Onions: Synthesis, Surface Chemistry, and Biomedical Translation and highlighted recent advances in the synthesis, surface functionalisation, and biomedical applications of carbon nano-onions.\

Returning to the University of Miami, where she earned her PhD, was both a professional and personal milestone. The visit provided an opportunity to share the research journey that has developed since her doctoral studies while reconnecting with the academic community that played a formative role in her scientific career.

Prof. Giordani was delighted to reconnect with her former professors, now valued colleagues, and to engage with students and researchers across the department. She expressed her sincere gratitude to the faculty and organisers for the invitation and for the warm welcome.
