Welcome Merrella Chaz Karaan

The Giordani Group is delighted to welcome Merrella Chaz Karaan as a research assistant in the group of Prof. Silvia Giordani at Dublin City University, supported by funding from the Research Ireland Frontiers for the Future Programme grant (2/FFP-A/11067) awarded to Prof. Giordani.

Merrella is completing her undergraduate degree in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at DCU. As part of her final year research project, Merrella carried out the synthesis and characterisation of BODIPY and aza-BODIPY derivatives under the supervision of Prof. Silvia Giordani.

Merrella will be tasked with the organic synthesis of novel, near infra-red fluorophores for the labelling of carbon nanoparticles. Welcome to the team, Chaz!
