Welcome Dr. Wanting Zhang!

The Giordani Group is delighted to welcome Dr. Wanting Zhang as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Her work is supported by funding from the Research Ireland Frontiers for the Future Award awarded to Prof. Giordani.
Wanting earned her BE in Macromolecular Materials and Engineering from Beijing Technology and Business University (BTBU) in 2019, followed by an MSc in Nanomaterials Chemistry from University College Dublin (UCD) in 2020. During her Master’s research, she focused on optimizing the synthesis and functionalization of magnetic multi-core nanoparticles.
She continued her doctoral research at UCD within the Centre for BioNano Interactions (CBNI), where she was awarded her PhD in 2025. Her doctoral thesis investigated the intracellular pathways of cell-derived nanoparticles, leveraging multimodal imaging techniques to visualize complex nano-bio interactions. Her expertise spans the synthesis and functionalisation of advanced nanomaterials alongside their rigorous evaluation in in vitro biological models.
Most recently, as a Research Assistant at UCD, Wanting applied her expertise in super-resolution microscopy to investigate the interactions between nanomaterials and cellular pathways.
Wanting brings a distinctive and highly complementary research profile to the team, and we look forward to the innovative contributions she will make.
Welcome to the team, Wanting!
