The Giordani group presents latest research on CNOs at the Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery & Therapy Workshop in Bangor

On 20 March 2026, the Nanoparticles for Drug Delivery & Therapy Workshop was held at Bangor University organised by our collaborator Prof. Zengbo Wang and his team. The programme featured a keynote lecture by Prof. Silvia Giordani, while 2nd year PhD student, Aravind Kannoth Anilkumar presented our latest findings on the laser-assisted heating of carbon nano-onions.

The event forms part of a collaborative feasibility study between Bangor University and Dublin City University, focusing on laser-mediated heating of carbon nano-onions (CNOs) for therapeutic applications. This research investigates how controlled photothermal activation of nanomaterials can enhance precision treatment strategies, particularly in targeted therapy.

The meeting brought together researchers from across the UK and Ireland to share the latest advances in nanoparticle design, photothermal strategies, and translational pathways toward clinical impact. It was an engaging and highly productive day, marked by stimulating discussions and the emergence of exciting opportunities for new collaborations.
