Professor Silvia Giordani Receives the Richard O'Kennedy Award 2025

We are delighted to share that Professor Silvia Giordani has received the Richard O’Kennedy Award 2025 as overall winner at Dublin City University (DCU), in recognition of her outstanding contribution within the Faculty of Science and Health.

This prestigious award recognises outstanding contributions to research, leadership, and academic excellence within the DCU community. Professor Giordani, Chair of Nanomaterials at the School of Chemical Sciences, has been honoured for her internationally recognised work in the field of nanomaterials for biomedical applications.

Professor Giordani has led an interdisciplinary research programme focused on the design and functionalisation of carbon-based nanomaterials, with applications ranging from molecular imaging and sensing to targeted drug delivery.

In addition to her scientific achievements, Prof. Giordani has made substantial contributions to the School and the wider academic community through leadership, mentorship of students and researchers, and active engagement in initiatives promoting women in science.
