Welcome Dr. Diego A. Acevedo Guzman!

We are delighted to welcome Diego A. Acevedo Guzman to the team as a Research Ireland Enterprise Fellowship postdoctoral researcher, co-funded by Research Ireland and Breakthrough Cancer Research.

Diego earned a double PhD in 2024 from the University of Groningen (Netherlands) and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Mexico). He brings a strong background in carbon nanomaterials and joins us to further advance this exciting area of research.

His work will focus on the light activation of carbon dots for photodynamic therapy and drug release in pancreatic cancer, under the supervision of Professor Silvia Giordani. Diego’s expertise in surface science and the chemistry of carbon nanomaterials makes him a valuable addition to our research group and to the wider scientific community.

We look forward to supporting Diego throughout his postdoctoral journey and to his future contributions and success.
