Carbon Dots shining at the 22nd SFRR-I Biennial Meeting in Galway!

Dr Francesco Calzaferri participated in the 22nd Biennial Meeting organised by the Society of Free Radical Research (SFRR) – International and hosted by the European Regional section of the SFRR at the University of Galway, Ireland, from 3rd to 6th June.
This conference brought together leading members of Regional Societies from around the world to share the latest breakthroughs in the field of redox biology. The conference was opened by the President of SFRR-Europe Prof Giuseppe Valacchi and by Prof Giovanni Mann on behalf of the President of SFRR-I, Prof Roland Stocker.

After presenting his poster, Francesco was awarded the Young Investigator Award by the European section of the SFRR which was sponsored by Elsevier. We are honoured and proud that our Carbon Dots, derived from spent coffee grounds, have been recognized by the Society for their promising potential as anticancer therapeutic agents!

The 22nd SFRR-I Biennial Meeting in Galway was a great occasion to expand our network of collaborators also thanks to the Satellite Symposium of the COST Action CA20121 Bench to bedside transition for pharmacological regulation of NRF2 in noncommunicable diseases (BenBedPhar) which took place on the 7th of June, in which Prof Giordani is a Management Committee Member and holds a leadership position of Gender Equality Officer.
