Soumakanya Ram is currently a 2nd year PhD student in the group of Prof. Silvia Giordani at Dublin City University, supported by her Research Ireland Frontiers for the Future Programme Award (2/FFP-A/11067).

Soumakanya earned her BSc in Chemistry from Presidency University, Kolkata, West Bengal, in 2021, followed by an MS (Research) in Chemistry from IISER Thiruvananthapuram, India, in 2024. Her current research in the Giordani Group focuses on the design and synthesis of near-infrared (NIR) imaging agents and the study of their biological applications. Her academic interests include organic synthesis, chemical biology, and cancer research.
