Francesco Calzaferri

Francesco Calzaferri

Postdoctoral Researcher

Francesco received his PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology at the University Autónoma of Madrid in 2021, where he developed a novel brain-permeable antagonist of the P2X7 receptor to tackle neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory disorders. He won a postdoctoral fellowship funded by the ARC foundation in Montpellier to carry out his research on the discovery and optimisation of bioactive molecules targeting DNA and histone methyltransferases, relevant epigenetic players in cancer development and progression.

He joins the Giordani group as an SFI-funded Postdoctoral researcher grant (no.: 2/FFP-A/11067). His research aims to develop and biologically evaluate novel smart nanoparticles for spatio-temporally controlled drug release in cancer.
