Diego is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Silvia Giordani at Dublin City University, supported by the Research Ireland Enterprise Fellowship Programme (Partnership Stream; EPSPD/2025/1433).
Diego earned a double PhD degree from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico in 2024. His current research in the Giordani Group focuses on the light activation of carbon dots for photodynamic therapy and drug release in pancreatic cancer. He is particularly interested in biomaterials, surface science, chemistry, and nanomaterials, with a strong motivation to develop functional materials that enable biomedical innovation.
