Cancer Revolution: Science, Innovation and Hope – in Dublin until 31 December 2025

Breakthrough Cancer Research, Ireland’s leading medical research charity focused on cancer awareness and funding cutting-edge science, is bringing the acclaimed Cancer Revolution: Science, Innovation and Hope exhibition to Ireland for the very first time.

This free, immersive exhibition explores the story of cancer – from its earliest documented cases to today’s most effective treatments and tomorrow’s scientific breakthroughs. Visitors will encounter powerful personal stories from those affected by cancer, Irish-led innovations that are shaping the future of treatment, and hands-on interactive displays that help demystify the science behind cancer.

The Giordani Research Group is proud to be featured in this exhibition, showcasing our pioneering work in nanomedicine. Our research focuses on the design and development of carbon-based nanoparticles as targeted drug delivery platforms for cancer treatment. These nanoscale systems are engineered to deliver chemotherapy drugs directly to cancer cells – increasing treatment efficacy while minimizing harmful side effects on healthy tissue.

A dedicated section of the exhibition highlights our contributions to this exciting field, with displays explaining how nanomaterials can be customized to interact with cancer cells at the molecular level. This work, funded through the Research Ireland Enterprise Fellowship Programme and supported by Breakthrough Cancer Research, represents a powerful example of how basic science translates into real-world impact.

As part of our commitment to public engagement, members of the Giordani Group also volunteered at the exhibition and fundraising event, speaking directly with visitors about their work, their journey as young scientists, and how feedback from the public helps shape and inspire future research directions. The experience was not only a chance to inform and inspire – but also to listen, learn, and reaffirm the human impact of scientific discovery.
